President Ben Lawson has just stepped down saying he is retiring and needs a break from being at the top. He is to be replaced temporarily by Jason Young and Daniel Philips. He has however agreed to carry out the nations foreign affairs after being asked to by the acting leaders. Here is his retirement statement.
Dear Citizens and Members of the international community. I Ben Lawson hereby step down as President of the Republic of Wyke and retire from most internal politics. I need a break from the top. It has taken its toll on me and i need a rest and time to think things over. I appoint Jason Young and Daniel Phillips as acting leaders but i will continue to carry out our nations foreign affairs ( after some persuasion by Mr Young). Its been good while it has lasted but a break is what is needed. No doubt i will return to the front line internally eventually but for a little while i shall just take it easy and enjoy not having to run the nation day to day. I plan during this time to write some memoirs whilst contemplating my future in Micronationalism. I will keep in touch and play an active role internationally but i will be enjoying my retirement for the period it lasts. No doubt the lure of politics and power will become to hard to resist at some point and i will return to the forefront.
Thank you for all your support over the years and i hope our friendships continue during this time.
Ben lawson

Hello Citizens and international micronationalists
This is an official statement from the desk of President Lawson.
I am currently writing this sat at the desk in my Office amid a massive situation. What has occured in the past few days has been stupid and it needs to be dealt with now for the sake of our internal stability, our international relations and friendships between all of us. Firstly i would like to assure you all that i am not a dictator and find these remarks need to be straightened out. Ill admit what i have done in the past few days hasn’t been greatly democratic and does make me look like a Dictator. I now realise this was wrong and i should have negotiated to deal with the crisis in a diplomatic way. This Crisis has taken its toll on many things of which i wish to put right. To start i REPEAL the law that removed the National assembly.
Secondly I invite all members of the National assembly back including Joe Foxon. Thirdly i wish to negotiate to bring this crisis to an end so we can get on with things and move forward. If moving forward means that i have to step down then so be it. I especially wish to negotiate with Mr Foxon and hope he will take me up on my offer.
Ben Lawson

The Social Democrat party has today released its manifesto for the january elections. It is wide ranging covering many areas with bold plans.
The full manifesto is now printed below:
January 2011 election Social Democrat party manifesto
We have been in government for almost six months now and yes things haven’t gone to plan and we have stalled. This may be to do with the fact that parliamentary terms are too short for us to make any significant progress. So our plan is a big one we can see that significant changes are needed. We believe that the current system doesn’t work well enough. This is why we are planning to change it to a system that will hopefully work better. This will hopefully get the nation moving and growing again and we will have greater successes. We will work hard to achieve this and allow our nation to thrive. I hope that you can see the right choice when you go to vote on January 3rd.
Here are our main points for each area.
Government as a whole:
- Write a constitution
- extend parliamentary terms to one year long
- make the legislature more like the system of the USA
- rename the parliament the senate
- make presidential terms 2 years long and have presidential elections every two years with a mid term election for the senate after one year.
- Retain the cabinet
- Set up local governors
Defence
- Carry out a strategic defence review to assess our defensive needs
- Provide the military with what it needs to do its job
- Carry out a thorough training and selection process to get the army in the best shape.
Law and order
- Set up a police force
- Set up a rigid court system
- Set penalties for those who break the law
The economy
- Carry out small scale work to allow small economic growth.
- Work to build the economy slowly
Foreign affairs
- Work to develop our position in the OAM
- Develop closer ties and make alliances with more nations
Local affairs
- Increase local representation
- Give the new state governors power to deal with small scale local issues that don’t need the involvement of central government
- Make sure citizens know about their representation
- Map out our geography
- Register all citizens in each state
Other points
- Focus less on the world cup but make sure all relevant plans are put in place
- Boost use of the forum and news service.
